RAYSFIELD JUNIOR SCHOOL

School Day
Children are expected to arrive from 8.40am onwards in the playground. The school is not responsible for children before 8.40am, and after 3.20pm. Registration will start promptly at 9.00am. We are obliged by law to keep a record of children who arrive late, giving reasons.
Registration is closed at 9.10am and any child arriving after this time is recorded as absent (9.00-9.10am they are recorded as late).
Arriving Safely
The shared main entrance in Finch Road becomes very congested at busy times. We encourage children to use the footpath entrances around the school site and to walk to school. If you are dropping off children, please do not turn in the gateway or park on the zigzag yellow lines as it is dangerous. Please avoid using cars on site at the busy periods. The gates will be locked 8.40 -8.55am and 3.20-3.40pm. The Parish Hall car park is for the exclusive use of Parish Hall users and should never be used for persons on school business. If coming onto the school site during the school day, please use the main entrance. Other gates are locked from 9.30–2.45, to inhibit public access onto site, when children may be vulnerable. This is to safeguard all our children.
Severe Weather Conditions
It will be the aim of the school to maintain "business as usual" throughout the year, but there may be circumstances beyond our control and we will adopt a "common sense" approach at all times. On days when there may be severe weather (heavy snow or ice), parents are advised to check that school will be open before sending the children to school. The main line of communication will be via the school’s texting service, website and local media (Radio Bristol, Brunel Radio, GWR or local TV).
If no announcement is broadcast, please assume that Raysfield Junior School will be operating as normal.
The school operates a texting and email service to all parents, for much information throughout the year. Please ensure contact details are kept up to date.
